Riches and Style

I'm still experimenting with different backgrounds and trying new things.

This is my character Flare and I actually sketched this image of her sitting many years ago.  I always wanted to color this sketch, but the pose was awkward (and still is).  I thought it would fit best for sitting on stairs.  The other fancy junk I added in the background were just a few different things I've been wanting to try drawing, especially the roman columns. 

While Flare is by no means a rich girl, she is a photographer who works at a very high end industry, which is a huge setting in my upcoming comic series.  So basically I tried to throw in different "fancy" things for this background to see if I could pull some of them off.  The fountain was supposed to be more extravagant, but I got lazy.   Everything looks out of proportion, but I'm still happy with how the actual individual background objects turned out.

I think the highlights and shadows on Flare is too high contrast again...I need to stop that...

By the way, Flare is a Kangaroo.   While you can't tell with her boots' angle in the picture, they are actually very high heeled for her longer feet type.  Over the years I kept changing her species.  She was originally a fox, then went to a rodent hybird mix, then I finally settled for a Kangaroo.  She's the only character I've had that I've changed the species for, and three times at that.  I had too many fox characters anyway.
